When should I call?
Call as soon as you think you might be pregnant. AlphaCare can offer a free pregnancy test as soon as you miss your period.
How much do services cost? Do I need to have insurance?
All of our services are free and confidential. You do not need to have insurance.
What are your office hours?
AlphaCare is open Monday through Friday, from 9 AM to 4:30 PM.
Is this a licensed clinic?
Yes. AlphaCare’s office and MMU are state certified with Clinic Lab Permits. All scans are performed by registered nurse sonographers and reviewed by radiologists. (Our radiologists are medical doctors who specialize in diagnosing pregnancy by ultrasound.)
What do I need to bring to my appointment?
All you need to bring is a photo ID (if you have one). If you had a pregnancy test done at another medical center, please bring documentation of that visit as well.
What will it be like when I come for my appointment?
When you come for your appointment, you will be greeted by our receptionist. She will ask you for photo ID and give you some basic paperwork to fill out. Next, you will meet with a registered nurse for a pregnancy test and a consultation. In most cases, if you receive a positive pregnancy test result, AlphaCare can also offer a free ultrasound.
Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?
Yes. You are welcome to bring a support person with you to your appointment. Partners, family and friends are welcome in the exam room, with your permission, after the initial intake screening.
How long is the appointment?
Expect your appointment to take between an hour and an hour and a half to allow our nurses to make sure that all your questions and concerns are answered.
Will I be able to make a follow-up appointment?
Follow-up appointments and consultations are available with our nurses and social workers. However, AlphaCare does not offer ongoing prenatal care.
Is it ever too late to call?
No, but the earlier you call, the more time we will have to assist you.
“AlphaCare gave me someone to talk to who made me feel better when I was down. Since I have attending this program I have been happy.”

Make an AppointmentWhat is the Mobile Medical Unit?
AlphaCare’s Mobile Medical Unit, or MMU, is a Mercedes Sprinter van. It is equipped with a fully functioning bathroom, exam table, and ultrasound machine. An AlphaCare nurse and ultrasound assistant drive the MMU to different neighborhoods in Philadelphia to be closer to your community and provide free appointments for pregnancy testing and ultrasounds. The MMU allows for a comfortable and private appointment outside our office.
